Former Public Defender Interrogated in Election Case
A representative of the monitoring mission “My Voice”, magistrate judge Nino Lomjaria, was questioned in a Tbilisi court. She was accompanied by the head of the mission.
Lomjaria said that during her interrogation, she handed over all the evidence to the investigative agency. However, she felt like an investigator herself, being asked to prove that the elections were rigged.
She stated that the questions she was asked focused on specific details, such as who committed violations and who voted instead of others. Lomjaria provided witness statements, complaints, and video evidence, including hundreds of complaints from her observers.
She said that each complaint came with additional evidence, such as links to further information or photo and video material. The complaints were detailed, describing the specific precincts where violations took place and who was involved.
Lomjaria expressed frustration that she felt like an investigator herself, being asked to prove something rather than having her concerns responded to. She believed that the monitoring organization had presented more evidence than ever before.
