**Systemic Torture in Georgia**
Citizens and journalists are being tortured and treated unfairly. Hundreds of people have been subjected to torture, including journalists. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed.
Nino Lomjaria, the founder of the civil platform “European Orbit of Georgia”, says that every incident of torture is documented by her organization. They share this information with the international community. Despite having evidence and video footage, the Special Investigation Service does not respond or take action.
Lomjaria is concerned about the increasing number of cases where citizens are taken away from their families without a reason or court order. This includes illegal searches, arrests, and kidnappings. Many people do not even know where they have been taken for hours.
**No Justice for Torture Victims**
The country has seen large-scale repression with no one being held accountable. Lomjaria says that torture is strictly forbidden and those responsible must be punished. She also emphasizes that failing to investigate torture is considered a crime in itself.
The Special Investigation Service is not responding to the facts presented by Lomjaria’s organization, and no one has been charged despite some individuals being identified. The court system is also not doing its job, according to Lomjaria.
**Holding Those Responsible**
Lomjaria is sending the names of agency heads and representatives to international human rights protection institutions and the diplomatic corps. This way, everyone will know who is responsible for the repression, torture, and inhumane treatment of citizens in Georgia.
