North Korean Troops Hit Hard in Ukraine Conflict
A South Korean lawmaker has revealed that over 100 North Korean soldiers have been killed and more than 1,000 wounded in fighting with Ukrainian forces.
The information was given by Lee Seong-kweun after a secret meeting with intelligence officials. They told him that North Koreans were fighting on the Russian side in Ukraine’s Kursk region.
North Korea has sent hundreds of troops to support Russia in the conflict. Despite heavy losses, they have been able to push Ukrainian forces out of some areas.
The high number of casualties is due to the North Korean soldiers not being used to fighting with drones and not knowing how to fight on open terrain.
More North Korean Troops May Be Sent
Intelligence reports say that North Korea is preparing to send even more troops to support Russia. Leader Kim Jong Un is personally overseeing their training.
It’s believed that over 10,000 North Koreans have already been sent to Ukraine to help Russia. This follows a visit by Russian President Putin to North Korea in June, where he signed a deal with Kim Jong Un to support each other militarily.
The US and South Korean leaders have discussed the situation and are concerned about North Korea’s actions.
