**Man Arrested for Trying to Join Russian Army**
A Macedonian man has been arrested in North Macedonia for trying to join the Russian army and fight in Ukraine. This is the first time a Macedonian citizen has faced charges for this offense.
The authorities identified the man by his initials, J.K. He was detained on November 29th and ordered to stay under house arrest for 30 days. If he is found guilty, he could face a minimum sentence of three years.
**How He Planned to Join**
According to the police, the suspect had been communicating online with someone who claimed to be recruiting soldiers for the Russian army. The recruiter promised him €3,000 in compensation and told him about a newly formed detachment that he could join. The suspect even traveled to Moscow in October and planned to return to North Macedonia once he was trained.
**Police Investigation**
When questioned at Skopje airport, the suspect admitted that he had plans to sign up for the Russian army and undergo training to fight in Ukraine. Police then searched his home on November 29th and found documents related to the case.
