During his visit to Kyiv, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Eide calls for a constructive dialogue regarding Ukraine’s NATO invitation.
During a visit to Kyiv in October 2024, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide reaffirmed his support for Ukraine joining NATO and welcomed the victory plan of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy delivered his “victory plans” to Ukraine in a speech to the Verkhovna Rada on 16 October, and at the European Union Summit in Brussels on the 17th. The first point is Ukraine’s invitation of NATO as an important step for future peace, and to deter further Russian aggression.
Reuters reports that Eide, speaking at a briefing with Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized the importance of a “solid, constructive conversation” about NATO’s invitation for Ukraine to join its military alliance.
The Norwegian Minister praised Zelenskyy’s victory plan.
