Norway Increases Aid by $4.6 Billion

The leaders of Norway’s parliament agreed March 6 to increase aid for Ukraine. They plan to give Ukraine a total of 85 billion Norwegian krone ($.8 billion) in .

“This is a big help,” said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. “We need to support Ukraine because it is fighting for peace and stability in Europe.”

Norway had originally planned to give $2.1 billion in . Now they will give more than three times that amount.

The government did not say exactly how the extra money would be used. However, a Norwegian news outlet reported that it would go where Ukraine needs it most.
