Norway’s Foreign Minister Speaks Out on Georgia Elections
Norway’s Foreign Minister, Espen Barth Eide, has made a statement about the recent elections in Georgia. In his assessment of the polls, he says that democracy is at risk when elections have serious problems.
The minister was responding to a report from OSCE/ODIHR, which monitors elections in Europe. The report said that the October 26 parliamentary elections in Georgia were not free and fair. The minister agrees with this view.
In his social media post, he wrote: “When elections are flawed, democracy is endangered.” He added that his concerns about the election were confirmed by the OSCE/ODIHR report.
