**South Korea Not Involved in Czech Initiative to Buy Shells for Ukraine**
The Czech government has said that South Korea did not contribute to their initiative to buy artillery shells for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Tomas Kopecny, a Czech official, made this statement in an interview on November 19.
The Czech initiative was started earlier this year to help Ukraine get the shells it needs. The country received over one-third of the expected 500,000 shells by the end of 2024. However, South Korea did not provide any shells or financial support for the initiative.
**South Korea Not Involved in Ammunition Purchase**
Kopecny said that South Korea was not among the 16 countries that contributed financially to the purchase of artillery shells from other countries. They also did not supply any shells under the Czech initiative. This contradicts previous reports by a German media outlet, Bild, which suggested that South Korea might be one of the suppliers.
**Previous Reports Were Incorrect**
Earlier this year, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that they had no plans to supply 155 mm shells to Ukraine due to concerns about North Korean soldiers participating in the war. However, it was later discovered that South Korean shells were being sent to Ukraine indirectly through undisclosed US purchases.
**South Korea Revising Its Support for Ukraine**
In October, Seoul announced a possible revision of its support for Kyiv, including the provision of lethal weapons and personnel, depending on the situation in Ukraine. This shows that South Korea is re-evaluating its support for Ukraine.
