**Public Defender’s Office Not Present at Rally**
The Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioselian, explained why his office was not present during the crackdown on Melikishvili Avenue. He said that a complete picture of the situation cannot be obtained by being physically present at the rally.
**Limited Number of Detainees**
According to Ioselian, there are not enough detainees for him to personally visit and assess the situation. However, his office is monitoring the situation through social media and TV reports.
**Helping Those Affected**
Ioselian said that those who have been affected by violence during the rally can apply to the Public Defender’s Office. Their statements will be sent to the Special Investigation Service for further action.
**Protecting Media Freedom**
The Public Defender also emphasized the importance of protecting media freedom. Any interference with or obstruction of media representatives is a criminal offense. The office has collected documentation on alleged instances of violence against journalists and will send it to the relevant authorities.
