Parliament to Vote on Terminating Powers of Several Politicians
The Georgian Parliament will meet on December 10 to vote on the termination of parliamentary powers for several politicians. These include Bidzina Ivanishvili, honorary chairman of the “Georgian Dream” party; Irakli Gharibashvili, the party’s chairman; and Mikheil Kavelashvili, who has been nominated as a presidential candidate.
First, the issue will be considered by the Procedural Issues and Rules Committee. After that, it will go to a plenary session where members of Parliament will vote on the matter.
Additionally, the Parliament is also scheduled to discuss the termination of parliamentary powers for five other politicians: Irakli Kobakhidze, who remains as Prime Minister; Maka Bochorishvili, appointed as Foreign Affairs Minister; Anri Okhanashvili, Justice Minister; Davit Songhulashvili, Environment and Agriculture Minister; and Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Economy and Sustainable Development Minister.
These politicians are accused of holding incompatible positions with their membership in Parliament.
