Prosecutor’s Office Investigates Mamuka Khazaradze
The Prosecutor’s Office has started an investigation into businessman Mamuka Khazaradze. He is accused of not attending a parliamentary hearing about the previous government.
The investigation was asked for by a parliamentary commission. The commission wanted to hear from Khazaradze and his friend Badri Japaridze, who are leaders of the “Strong Georgia” party.
Khazaradze did not go to the hearing. He said on social media that he didn’t want to be part of what he called “a circus”. His friend Japaridze also missed the meeting.
The parliamentary commission decided to send Khazaradze’s case to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
Khazaradze could face a fine or even time in prison if found guilty. He might also lose his right to hold office or do certain jobs for three years.
