Three guided aerial bombs, which were dropped by Russian forces on Zaporizhzhia on 11 November, injured a four-year-old child and two teenagers.
Three Russian airstrikes in the early morning hours of 11th November targeted Zaporizhzhia in southeastern Ukraine. The strikes caused civilian casualties as well as significant infrastructure damage.
Zaporizhzhia, a regional hub and a close proximity to the frontlines, is a major regional hub. It may be an effort to weaken Ukrainian logistical support and military operations in that area. International law considers Russian attacks on civilians to be war crime. They are intended to instill fear and demoralize Ukrainians.
According to Ivan Fedorov of the Zaporizhzhia Military Administration, the attacks took place after midnight with guided aerial bombs hitting residential areas.
Throughout the morning, the number of injured rose to 22. Five of them were children aged 4, 15 and 17. Eight victims were hospitalized. One 71-year-old man died.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that the attacks occurred at 1:30 am, causing significant damage to multiple buildings. The blast wave damaged a car dealership and dormitory, and partially destroyed a two story residential building.
Local authorities are coordinating evacuations of residents from dormitories using three buses.
Regional authorities say that the total number of casualties could still rise as long as assessment operations continue.
The number of civilian casualties from the Russian missile attack on Kremenchuk on September 22 has risen to 33, including 1 fatality. The attack resulted in significant damage to residential and municipal infrastructure. Many people were hospitalized.
