Overnight into 29 September, Russian troops carried out a drone attack on several Ukrainian cities, causing damage to civilian infrastructure. According to Governor Ivan Fedorov, more than ten attacks were launched in Zaporizhzhia, injuring 13 people, including a 17-year-old boy. The city council reported that 13 residential buildings and 13 detached houses were also damaged in the massive attack, which hit three districts: Shevchenkivskyi, Komunarskyi, and Oleksandrivskyi.
Emergency services are currently conducting search and rescue operations, and a woman was found under the rubble of a high-rise building, according to Fedorov. Two of the six injured have been hospitalized.
The attack was carried out by 22 Shahed-type strike UAVs from Yeysk, Kursk Oblast, and Chauda in Russian-occupied Crimea. However, Ukraine’s defense forces were able to down 15 of the drones over Sumy, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, and Odesa oblasts. Five Russian drones were also lost due to electronic warfare countermeasures, with no consequences reported.
In Mykolaiv Oblast, four of the drones launched by Russia were shot down, and an educational institution was hit. Fortunately, there were no casualties, according to Governor Vitaly Kim.
