**Georgian Parliament Holds First Session Despite Protest**
A big protest took place in front of the Georgian Parliament building on November 24 and 25. The protesters were angry about the new parliament being formed after elections that some people, including the president, do not think were fair.
The protest started in a big square near the parliament building. People marched to the parliament building, where police were waiting for them. Some protesters even set up tents to stay overnight.
**Parliament Starts Work**
Despite the protest, the first session of the new parliament took place on November 25. Most members from one party, called Georgian Dream, showed up. The opposition parties did not come because they don’t think the parliament is legitimate.
The president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, does not recognize the election results and refused to start the parliament session. But the majority in the parliament decided to go ahead anyway.
**What’s Next?**
The new parliament approved all its members’ credentials, which means they are now officially recognized as lawmakers. However, this might be a problem because the president has challenged the election results in the country‘s highest court. This could mean that the parliament shouldn’t have started working until the court makes a decision.
