Two European officials are visiting Georgia.
Claude Kern from France and Edite Estrela from Portugal will be in Tbilisi for three days. They want to check if Georgia is following the rules set by the Council of Europe.
Georgia had elections last October, but there’s been a crisis since then. The EU also suspended its plans to join the European Union. The two officials will talk to leaders of all big parties and government officials. They’ll also meet with civil society groups and people from other countries.
The officials are concerned about protesters who were arrested. They plan to visit some of these protesters and see if their charges are fair.
