Opposition Politicians Camp Out Near University in Tbilisi
Last night, opposition politicians spent time with protesters who set up tents near the main building of Tbilisi State University. The area is located on a busy street and has caused traffic delays.
More than 20 tents were pitched in the area, blocking roads in several directions. Melikishvili Avenue, Varaziskhevi Street, Kekelidze Street, and Chavchavadze Avenue are among the streets that have been affected.
The organizers of the protest also lit fires in some areas and blocked a section of Chavchavadze Avenue using trash cans and chairs. The protesters were given food and drinks by the organizers to keep them warm throughout the night.
Leaders of the opposition called for a 24-hour protest, saying they would stay on the ground until November 18 at 8pm. They have also joined forces with participants from the “Return the Voice” action on Rustaveli Avenue.
