Eastern Human Rights Group said that, starting next year only Russian passport holders will be able to access free and subsidised medications in Russian occupied territories.
The Eastern Human Rights Group announced in social media that Ukrainians suffering from diabetes, bronchial asthma, and other illnesses on Russian-occupied territory will no longer receive free medication without Russian passports, starting next year.
In Starobilsk, Luhansk Oblast, the occupying forces had already adopted this practice. In this city, Ukrainians who do not have a Russian passport are denied medical care. In addition, pharmacies in the area have stopped providing medication under social programs for those without a Russian Passport.
The National Resistance Center of Ukraine has described this policy as an intentional act of genocide committed by the occupying force to eradicate the Ukrainian nation from their ethnic lands.
Residents of occupied territory will only be eligible for free, subsidised medications after 2025 if they have a Russian passport. Human rights defenders said that patients with diabetes, bronchial asthma, and other conditions would be denied access to essential medication if they did not have a Russian passport.
Next year, new rules will be implemented regarding subsidised medication. To receive free medicine, medical supplies, or specialized nutritional products, you must have a Russian passport, be registered as patient, and be listed in the registry of citizens who are entitled to free medication.
