Pawel Herczynski warned that if Georgia stops its EU accession, it will lose all EU financial aid, after already losing 121 million euro in aid.
Pawel Herczynski, speaking on the consequences of Georgia’s possible shift away from European Integration, highlighted that the decision to reduce financial aid had been made some time ago. Data released last week confirmed that Georgia has already lost 121 millions euros in aid under current EU programs.
Herczynski stated that “Georgia has lost EU aid of 121 millions euros and this only applies to current aid programmes.” He warned that if the country does not change its political trajectory, it could lose even more.
“If Georgians vote to not continue EU membership, Georgia will forfeit all financial assistance provided before the accession, as well as all funds that EU members receive, especially those with lower economic development levels,” he said.
Herczynski stressed that EU membership was a path to peace, stability and development. However, the final decision lies with the Georgians. “You decide your country’s future, you decide what you want Georgia to become,” he concluded.
