**EU Ambassador Speaks Out on Georgia Situation**
The EU ambassador to Georgia, Paweł Herczyński, has spoken strongly about the situation in the country. He told journalists that what’s happened over the last 12 days is “incompatible” with the relationship between Georgia and the European Union.
Georgia had a special relationship with the EU for many years. The EU offered Georgia agreements on trade, travel, and membership. However, Ambassador Herczyński said this relationship is now at risk due to recent events.
When asked about possible sanctions against the Georgian government, the ambassador replied that all measures are “on the table”. He explained that while it’s difficult for the EU to impose sanctions (as they require agreement from all 27 member states), what’s happening in Georgia demands a strong response.
**Sanctions May Be Imposed**
The ambassador acknowledged that work is already underway to prepare sanctions against the Georgian government. However, he emphasized that achieving unanimity among all 27 EU capitals will be challenging.
Ambassador Herczyński expressed hope that EU capitals would find it hard to ignore the level of violence and brutality in Georgia. He noted that preparations for sanctions are already under way and that they may be presented on Monday.
