South Korea and Ukraine warned of Korea’s deployment in Russia, but officials have not confirmed it publicly yet.
Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed US evidence that North Korean forces are in Russia, but their exact role is still unclear.
Austin’s announcement is the first official confirmation by senior officials that North Korea has deployed up to 12,000. Ukraine and South Korea had long claimed that North Korea had sent up to 12,000 in support of Russia’s efforts.
