**Ukraine to Get US Military Aid Despite Trump’s Suspension**
The Pentagon has confirmed that the US will continue to send military aid to Ukraine despite President Donald Trump‘s recent executive order suspending foreign aid programs for 90 days.
According to the Department of Defense, security assistance to Ukraine is not affected by the suspension. This means that contracts under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) and weapon deliveries from US warehouses under the Presidential Depletion Authority (PDA) will go ahead as planned.
These programs were set up during President Biden’s administration. While they are exempt from the 90-day suspension, other development and humanitarian programs are still being reviewed and their status is uncertain.
The 90-day suspension was one of several executive orders published by Trump since becoming president. In it, he claimed that US foreign aid is not aligned with American interests and in some cases goes against American values.
Despite this, the US has already provided Ukraine with $66 billion in military assistance since Russia’s full-scale war broke out in 2022.
