Peskov: Russia does not interfere in Georgian elections, unlike the West

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’ , accused the West of trying influence the course of Georgian while asserting that Russia will not interfere with Georgian .
“As to the elections, that is not our concern.” We see Western countries making blatant efforts to exert pressure on the current Georgian government and to exert direct and undisguised influences on the course of campaign,” Peskov added. “We do and will not interfere with Georgia’s internal matters in any way.”
The from the Russian state-controlled media does not mention if Peskov cited a specific example of an attempt by the West to interfere with Georgia’s election.
He also praised the current relationship between Georgia and Russia. Despite the “complications” that exist in these relationships, he said, the of people-to-people and humanitarian ties was not hindered.
Peskov’s statements are in line with those of Georgia’s ruling parties, who have repeatedly blamed the West, and Western including the U.S., the EU and other Western countries, trying to influence Georgia’s election campaign and for acting as what they perceive as a “lifeline”, for the opposition’s agenda. GD leaders don’t mention Russia when they complain about foreign interference. Instead, they point directly to the West.
