Newsweek reports that retired US Army General and former CIA director David Petraeus warned that the Biden Administration’s $400 million military aid package to Ukraine, while significant in its own right, will not be enough to prevent Russian advances.
Despite Ukraine’s long-running appeals in the face of escalating Russian attacks, Western nations including the US and UK continue to restrict their use of long-range weapons such as ATACMS missiles and Storm Shadow missiles, reportedly, to avoid further escalation.
The package announced by US Defense Sec. Lloyd Austin during his Kyiv visit on 21 October 2024 includes armored vehicles, anti-tank weapons, and other equipment for Ukrainian forces in the front line.
