**European Official: Leaders of Georgian Dream Should Go to Moscow, Not the West**
A senior European official has called on leaders from Georgia’s ruling party, Georgian Dream, to stop visiting Western countries. Instead, they should go to Russia and Belarus, where their allies are based.
Petras Auštrevičius, a member of the European Parliament from Lithuania, made this statement in an interview with InterPressNews. He said that while suspending diplomatic passports was a good start, more needs to be done to cut off ties with Georgian Dream’s leaders.
“The suspension of diplomatic passports is not enough,” Auštrevičius said. “We have to cut down many cooperative projects and policy lines. Isolation may be painful, but it’s necessary to fight authoritarian regimes.”
He compared Georgia’s government to those in Belarus and Russia, saying that they share similar characteristics. “Georgia is falling into the category of those countries,” Auštrevičius said.
When asked if he meant the Georgian people or the government when talking about isolation, Auštrevičius replied that it was the government. He emphasized that no one from Georgian Dream’s leadership should be allowed to visit Western countries.
**A Message to the Georgian People**
Auštrevičius also addressed the Georgian people in his interview. He warned them not to believe the propaganda spread by the Kremlin, which sometimes uses the Georgian language. “Don’t get fooled,” he said. “Georgians are common sense people who can see things as they go.”
He noted that the official propaganda from Georgia’s ruling party is designed to create fear and uncertainty among the population. Auštrevičius urged Georgians to be selective and recognize real threats, rather than falling for the Kremlin’s manipulation.
“Don’t follow Kremlin’s propaganda,” he said. “It’s not about you; it’s about their interests.”
