**EU MP Criticizes Georgian Government’s Actions**
A Lithuanian Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Petras Auštrevičius, has spoken out against the Georgian government’s actions. In an interview with Interpressnews, he said that the EU countries have underestimated the plans of the Georgian Dream government.
**Government Underestimated by EU**
According to Auštrevičius, the Georgian Dream government aims to distance Georgia from the European path. He believes that the only option left for the EU now is to isolate the Georgian government until new elections are called in the country.
**Impact on Georgian People**
Auštrevičius stressed that the ongoing processes will have a negative impact on the daily lives of the population. He emphasized that the EU countries do not aim to punish the Georgian people, but rather the authoritarian regime of the government.
**Imposing Restrictions**
The MEP suggested that the EU should impose more regulations on the leadership of Georgia. He believes that cutting down official contracts and isolating the government is necessary to fight against authoritarian dictatorship regimes.
**Chance for De-escalation**
Auštrevičius does not see any chance of de-escalation from the situation unless new elections are held in Georgia. He mentioned that the government made a mistake by using administrative power, intimidation, and violence against independent observers and opposition figures during the elections.
**Message to Georgian People**
In his final message to the Georgian people who have been standing at demonstrations for over 70 days, Auštrevičius urged them not to get disillusioned or fooled by official propaganda. He reminded them that they are fighting for their free choice and European integration, which is supported by a considerable majority of the population.
