**Fear of Freedom: Regime Targets Saakashvili**
The government in Georgia is afraid of the freedom of former President Mikheil Saakashvili. This is what Petre Tsiskarishvili, General Secretary of the “Unity-National Movement,” said about the case against Saakashvili.
**A Ridiculous Case?**
Tsiskarishvili believes that the government wants Saakashvili to never be freed. He thinks this is an absurd and ridiculous criminal case. The regime has driven over a million people out of the country in recent years because of poverty, hopelessness, and lack of prospects.
**Crossing Borders**
Many people have crossed the border and entered other countries where they had better lives. Tsiskarishvili said that hundreds of thousands of Georgians have done this before. He believes that crossing the border is not a serious crime, especially for citizens of Georgia who are trying to escape poverty and lack of prospects.
**A Politically Motivated Case**
Tsiskarishvili thinks that the case against Saakashvili is politically motivated. He believes that the regime wants to keep Saakashvili from being free because he is a serious opponent. The judge has gone into deliberation, and the verdict will be announced on March 17.
**Other Charges**
Four other people have been charged in connection with this case: Elguja Tsomaia, Zurab and Shalva Tchotchoria, and Giorgi Narimanidze. They have been released on bail while their cases are processed separately.
