**EU Speaks Out on Belgrade Protest**
The European Union must speak out about the incident at a protest in Belgrade, said Tonino Picula MEP.
On March 15, protesters were met with police using a sonic weapon. Activists and opposition groups claim this was an attempt to create a wider scandal.
Picula said there is suspicion that sound cannons were used. Many people reported medical problems after the event. He praised the calmness of the protesters.
An independent investigation must be done, and the EU should put more pressure on the Serbian authorities, Picula said. The EU must take a clear stand against this behavior.
