**Urgent Medical Council Needed for Hunger Striking Journalist**
Mzia Amaghlobeli, the founder of “Batumelebi” and “Netgazeti,” has been on hunger strike for 20 days. Her health condition is unknown to the public due to a lack of official information.
Phikria Chikhradze, a leader of the “Strong Georgia” coalition, says that a medical council must be convened urgently to provide information about Amaghlobeli’s condition. If this doesn’t happen, severe consequences could occur as soon as tomorrow or the day after.
According to Chikhradze, even for a healthy person, 20 days without food would cause serious health issues. The only official comment on her condition came from a doctor who said there were no changes in her health on the 16th day of her hunger strike.
This is seen as a very serious systemic crime. A high-ranking police official, a prosecutor, and a judge are all involved in enforcing this injustice. The Minister of Health has not commented on Amaghlobeli’s condition, despite being in office and receiving a high salary.
Chikhradze says that the situation could become irreversible if action is not taken soon. The Public Defender‘s Office has done nothing to show responsibility in this matter.
**A Medical Council Must Be Convened**
Phikria Chikhradze demands that a medical council be convened immediately to provide information about Amaghlobeli’s condition. Every necessary measure must be taken to determine what actions are required in the coming days.
