Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, spoke on September 22 during the 76th session UN General Assembly. He highlighted Russia’s efforts at undermining Ukraine’s territorial integrity as well as Georgia’s support of Ukraine.
“War is raging again, not far away from my country.” Garibashvili said that Russia’s full-fledged conflict in Ukraine undermines Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as UN Charter and basic principles of international law.
The PM also noted that the Georgian government has taken steps to provide political, humanitarian and financial assistance to Ukraine.
“Georgia stands by Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, Georgia has provided substantial humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including more than 1,000 tons. Georgia provides financial support and accommodation to more than 32,000 Ukrainians who are currently living in our country,” said the PM
highlighted. “The Georgian educational system has enrolled over 1500 Ukrainian students. Many of them receive general education in Ukrainian language according the standard Ukrainian curriculum,” he continued.
Garibashvili’s support for Ukraine, in the face the Russian invasion, was further highlighted by his sponsorship, joining or support of nearly 400 resolutions and statements, joint declarations, and other initiatives at all major international institutions and organizations.
