PM: Hearing in US Senate Ends All Speculations

Georgian responded to the hearing that was held on March 23 in the US Senate entitled “Bolstering Democracy In Georgia.”
Irakli Garibashvili thanked George Kent, the Second Deputy Secretary , for his objectivity and impartiality in discussing Georgia during the Senate debates.
“I would like this opportunity to thank Mr. George Kent, the Second Deputy Secretary of State at the State Department and the Senate for their fair and objective assessments. This hearing, and the assessments that were made there, once again showed that Georgia is a very important partner country for the United States. “These statements have put an end to all speculations and, more importantly, absurd allegations and speculations,” Garibashvili stated.
He also recalled his statements after the meeting with Josep Borrell, the High Representative of European .
“Ofcourse, it was important for us. I would like to reply to Mr. Borrell’s statements. I would like to to the organized attack by representatives of the Opposition on Vice President Borrell. It shows us once again the force with which we are dealing,” said the PM.
Josep Borrell, EU High Representative on , has stated that it is not his responsibility to decide when new elections to the Georgian will take place.
Borrell was asked at a joint press conference in Brussels, following the Association if it would be effective to call early elections for the parliament as demanded by the Opposition to overcome the current political crisis.
Borrell said that it was not up to him to decide if new elections should be held, but the OSCE concluded these elections were fair.
The statement above caused anger and dissatisfaction in the opposition parties. They expected a different, more radical response from him.
