On September 25, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze delivered a speech at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He praised the Georgian Dream government for its efforts in ensuring the country’s development and stability over the past decade.
While addressing global development challenges, PM Kobakhidze also mentioned the ongoing war in Ukraine and expressed support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. However, he did not mention Russia in his speech.
He then spoke about Georgia’s efforts to transform the South Caucasus region from a region of conflicts into a region of opportunities. He also mentioned the country’s strong relations with China and central Asian countries, as well as its strategic location and role in the Middle Corridor project.
PM Kobakhidze also highlighted Georgia’s impressive macroeconomic figures and its ranking compared to other European and global nations. He briefly mentioned the country’s occupied territories, stating that despite the challenges, Georgia continues to thrive and grow.
He addressed the people living in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali, expressing the government’s desire for a united and developed Georgia where all citizens can live together in peace.
In conclusion, PM Kobakhidze stated that the government is determined to guide the country towards success and overcome all challenges. He expressed optimism for Georgia’s future and its desire to become a full-fledged member of the international community.
