Maros Sefcovic is the Vice President of European Commission. He met today with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili who is currently in Brussels.
The meeting at the European Commission was centered on the results of the recent Eastern Partnership Summit as well as Georgia’s progress towards European integration.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Georgia’s European choice, and aspirations are irreversible. This is evidenced by Georgia’s Government’s intention to file an official application to join the EU in full in 2024.
During the meeting the Vice President of the European Commission and the Head of Georgian government discussed some of key issues on the agenda for Georgia-EU relations. They also discussed the implementation of the Association Agreement, the DCFTA and ongoing reforms, as well as new directions for future cooperation, such energy security and Georgia’s potential to generate renewable energy.
