Poland is Giving Ukraine New Military Aid
Poland‘s defense minister said the country will give Ukraine 200 million euros ($210 million) in new military aid. This is Poland’s 46th package of help for Ukraine since Russia started a full-scale invasion in 2022.
The Polish government has been one of Ukraine’s biggest supporters. It has given over $4 billion in military aid to Ukraine since the start of the war, according to former Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Zvarych.
Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said Poland will also train more Ukrainian soldiers. So far, Poland has trained about 28,000 Ukrainian soldiers, which is about a third of all soldiers trained by EU countries.
Poland’s support for Ukraine comes as the US is considering changing its stance on the war. The US has been Ukraine’s biggest supporter since Russia started the invasion in 2022. But now, it seems like the US might not be giving as much help to Ukraine in the future.
The Polish government is trying to show that they are committed to helping Ukraine. They hope this will also boost public support for their efforts. However, a recent poll showed that only 49% of people in Poland support military aid for Ukraine, which is down from 54% earlier in the year.
