**Europe May Soon Face Pressure to Make Deal with Russia**
Europe might soon be under pressure to make a deal with Russia regarding its war against Ukraine, according to Poland’s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. He made this comment on January 6th on the social media platform X.
Sikorski’s words come just two weeks before the inauguration of new US President Donald Trump. Trump has promised to end the war quickly but hasn’t said how he plans to do it.
**No Ordinary Deal**
Sikorski warned that Europe should not make an ordinary deal with Russia, allowing Moscow to regain its strength. He noted that Europe is stronger than Russian leaders think and that Russia is weaker than many Europeans believe.
Despite economic challenges at home, Russian leaders have shown little interest in making a peace deal. They have rejected proposals from Trump’s team. Moscow’s troops are currently advancing on the battlefield, gaining ground in Donetsk Oblast and chipping away at Ukraine’s positions in Kursk Oblast.
**Ukraine Deserves Fair Peace**
Sikorski wrote that Ukraine deserves fair peace terms, not capitulation. He suggested that Europe should help position Kyiv to be in the best possible shape before entering negotiations with Moscow.
Ukrainian President Zelensky has also said that his country must do everything possible to end the war through diplomatic means by 2025. He believes a Trump administration would end the war faster.
French President Emmanuel Macron recently warned Ukraine to prepare for “realistic” discussions on territory, saying there won’t be a quick and easy solution to the war.
