Ukraine’s Presidential Office Head, Andriy Yermak, Ranked Among Europe’s Most Influential People
Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, has been named one of Europe’s most influential people by Politico. He secured second place in the “Dreamers” category.
Yermak was appointed as the head of the office by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2020. He has played a key role in Ukraine’s international relations, particularly during the ongoing war with Russia. However, his concentration of power and lack of clear accountability have raised concerns about potential abuses within his office.
Politico described Yermak as President Zelensky‘s “fixer” – someone who helps solve complex problems. According to the publication, Yermak has shifted his focus from trying to win the war to trying to win the peace. He faces diplomatic challenges, particularly with the changes in the United States’ political landscape.
The article notes that Yermak is seeking interlocutors in former US President Donald Trump‘s closest circle and has confirmed meetings with several members of the new administration. However, he also highlighted that he is determined to limit concessions and ensure Ukraine’s integrity.
Yermak shares the “Dreamers” category with other influential figures such as European diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Pope Francis, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. Russian President Vladimir Putin was listed in the “doers” category.
