**Majority of Americans Believe Trump Too Closely Aligned with Russia, Poll Finds**
According to a recent poll by Reuters/Ipsos, 56% of Americans believe that President Donald Trump is “too closely aligned” with Russia. The poll was conducted online among 1,422 U.S. adults between March 11-12 and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
The results show a significant divide along partisan lines, with 89% of Democrats agreeing that Trump is too closely aligned with Russia. Only 27% of Republicans agreed with this statement. The poll also found that 40% of respondents disagreed with the statement, while 4% chose not to answer.
**Trump’s Stance on Ukraine Raises Concerns**
Since taking office, Trump has distanced the U.S. from its traditional role as Ukraine’s primary supporter. He has questioned Kyiv’s commitment to peace and implied that Ukraine shares blame for the ongoing war. This stance has drawn praise from Russian officials while raising concerns among European allies.
Trump’s recent actions on Ukraine have prompted Russian officials to express optimism about a potential thaw in U.S.-Russia relations. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the shift a positive development that “largely aligns” with Moscow’s interests.
**Americans Support Trump’s Plan for Ukraine**
Despite the complexities of the issue, a plurality of Americans (44%) said they support Trump’s plan to condition U.S. military support for Ukraine on the U.S. getting a share of Ukraine’s mineral wealth.
