**Georgia’s President Warns City Mayor Against Provocation**
President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has spoken out against a planned event by the city mayor, Kakha Kaladze. The mayor had planned to light a Christmas tree with children in front of the parliament building tomorrow at 7pm.
Zurabishvili called this plan a “senseless provocation”. She said that for two weeks, there has been a continuous protest near the parliament building, and tomorrow’s event will coincide with a large protest. The President warned that it is not safe to bring children to that area, as some trees are allegedly soaked in gas.
Zurabishvili offered to help organize an alternative Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Orbeliani palace, instead of near the parliament building. She said that if anything happens tomorrow, the city mayor will be fully responsible.
