Daniel Twining, President of the International Republican Institute (IRI), responds to the statement by American Senator Roger Wicker made on social media regarding the parliamentary election held in Georgia. He states that such flawed parliamentary elections make it impossible to join the European Union.
“Strong words by a strong senator. “Hope the leadership of Georgia understands what’s at stake, because 90% of Georgians are eager to join the European Union and such flawed elections make it impossible”, wrote the president of IRI.
Roger Wicker, an American Senator, released a statement a few days ago in which he stated that he shared the opinion of Salome Zurabishvili who said that these elections were not free or fair and did reflect the will of people. According to him the Georgian people did not receive a legal, transparent, and dignified process but a farce.
