Georgia’s President Reacts to Changes in National Exam Program
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has made a statement about the removal of certain literary works from the program of the 2025 unified national exams. The President posted on social media that this change shows what kind of education system and state they have.
President Zurabishvili said: “When you take out works like ‘Bednieri Eri’, ‘Pasukhis Pasukhi’, ‘Gandegili’, ‘Achrdili’, and ‘Otaraant Kvrivi’ by Ilia, the whole work of Paolo Iashvili and Polikarpe Kakabadze, and Vazha‘s ‘Patriotism and Cosmopolitanism’, it becomes clear what idea is behind the education system and the state.”
The Ministry of Education in Georgia had previously made a statement about the change. They said that the new program for national exams only includes mandatory literature from the national curriculum. This means that if a specific work is not on the list for 2025, it does not mean that it will no longer be taught in schools.
