Georgian President Meets with German Parliament Member
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, met with Anton Hofreiter, a member of the European Affairs Committee in Germany‘s parliament.
They talked about the recent elections in October. The President said there were serious problems during and before the election that affected the results. She also mentioned that international partners have not recognized the election as fair.
The two leaders discussed Russia’s influence on Georgia and the country’s efforts to resolve its political crisis. The President plans to ask for help from international partners to hold new elections and use legal methods to overcome the crisis.
At the end of the meeting, the President reaffirmed that Georgia wants to join the European Union and has no other choice. She emphasized her country’s commitment to this goal.
