The Presidents of Lithuania, Georgia, and the European Union have signed a declaration to support Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as its European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
Gitanas Nuseda, President of Gitanas, visited Georgia and met the President of Georgia in the Orbeliani Palace. The presidents held a joint press conference after the signing ceremony.
Salome Zurabishvili has expressed her delight at the visit of President of Lithuania.
“We have overcome the internal political crises and the EU has played a very significant role in overcoming them.” Zurabishvili stated that it was a sign how important Georgian political stability and stability within the region are to the EU.
The President of Georgia expressed concern about the occupation lines, noting that provocations and kidnappings are continuing on the occupation lines.
Zurabishvili said, “It is important to mention Georgia and Ukraine during the NATO summit on June 14, and NATO’s policy of open-doors – we will receive signs on how we will continue on our integration path!”
The President stated that she had been promised by Lithuania that they would assist Georgia with vaccines, and deliver to Georgia a certain quantity of the vaccine.
“We must restore tourism relations as quickly as possible. After this very difficult time, tourism is a major part of our recovery. “Our borders are open to people who have been vaccinated and tested for PCs!” declared the President of Georgia.
President Nauseda noted that “when I look at Georgia I am reminded about Lithuania, which once struggled for EU and NATO Membership.” Our path was not an easy one and lasted for a relatively short time, but our society was clear about our goals. We also see the same diligence among the Georgians, so we signed with the President a joint statement that not only supports Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integration, but also its European, Euro-Atlantic, and European integration,” said the Lithuanian president.
