**Germany and Georgia: A Complicated Relationship**
There is currently no German ambassador in Georgia. Instead, the country has a representative from the radical opposition. This was stated by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Kobakhidze responded to a question about information spread by German Ambassador Peter Fischer. The ambassador claimed that the German Ministry of Education had “frozen” cooperation with Georgia in the scientific field.
**A Hope for Better Relations**
Despite the current situation, Kobakhidze expressed hope for maximum close cooperation between Germany and Georgia in the future. He noted that the outgoing Minister of Education is a reason for the current state of relations.
Kobakhidze also pointed out that specific bureaucrats can sometimes spoil things. In this case, he implied that the current ambassador’s actions are not helpful.
**A Call for Change**
Kobakhidze emphasized that Georgia wants to restore close relations with Germany. He said that as soon as the situation changes, including personnel decisions, they expect progress in their relationship.
