**Georgian Prime Minister Praises Police for Handling Violent Groups**
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has praised the country‘s Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri. He said that if other ministers were in charge yesterday, the situation would have been much worse.
Kobakhidze said that if Vano Merabishvili or Giorgi Gakharia were in charge, several people might have died and others could have had their eyes gouged out. He credited Gomelauri and the police for acting with caution and preventing a more serious attack on the country’s constitution.
The Prime Minister also urged the police to be patient and not use excessive force. He said that unfortunate incidents did happen yesterday, but they should not be repeated in the future.
Kobakhidze warned that radical opposition groups often try to cover up their violence by using peaceful protests as an excuse. He praised the police for doing a good job in handling the situation.
