Irakli Kobakhidze spoke to the media about the recent billboards, videos and other materials produced by “Georgian Dream“, which have caused controversy. He explained that these materials were intended to expose the truth regarding the current situation in Ukraine.
Kobakhidze claims that for more than two and a quarter years, certain entities succeeded in hiding the truth about Ukraine’s situation from the Georgian people, portraying it as a war-torn nation to be envied.
“I would like a response to the well-known commercials and billboards that depicted events in Ukraine, the war image and on the opposite side – development of the country. These billboards and their corresponding video clip are causing concern for specific entities for one simple reason: for 2.5 years they have successfully hidden from the Georgian population what has happened and what is currently happening in Ukraine. There is a complete catastrophe in terms of infrastructure, economics, and humanitarians. They presented the events for two and a 1/2 years in a way to make us jealous of Ukraine. They used this term directly to show they were jealous of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and state”, Kobakhidze stated.
Kobakhidze claimed that the billboards, videos, and other media revealed the harsh economic and humanitarian realities of Ukraine, which contradicted the narrative that was promoted. He claimed that the revelations upset those who had presented the situation in Ukraine to Georgian society as desirable, specifically because they were trying to manipulate public opinion in order to support a new front of war in Georgia.
