Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze made a statement at a press conference. He said that the government will not talk about joining the European Union until 2028.
Kobakhidze said that the issue of opening talks with the EU is used to blackmail Georgia. Before, the status of being a candidate for membership was used in this way. He thinks that the EU should not use its power to make demands on Georgia.
The Prime Minister also criticized the European Parliament for passing a resolution about Georgia. He said that it’s unfair to think of joining the EU as a favor.
According to Kobakhidze, the government has decided not to ask for money from the EU until 2028. The Prime Minister thinks that this will prevent the EU from using its power over Georgia.
