Irakli Kobakhidze said that the obstruction of voter mobilization was an anti-election act. We understand that high turnout is irritating to the radical opposition.
He called on all the parties involved in the elections as well as the citizens and media representatives to help facilitate a peaceful election.
“We are happy to see a high voter turnout. More than 320,000 voters already showed up at the polling station and acted with civic responsibility by making their own choices. You know that voter mobilization is a major function of political parties. We hope that the election process will continue and that the elections are held in a peaceful atmosphere. Unfortunately, concrete facts about obstructions to voter mobilization have been recorded. Saddest of all, such actions are often committed by journalists. There were also facts of pressure placed on the voter. For example, the voter was not allowed the freedom to drive his car in peace or to do the things that he is entitled to do according to law. We understand the radical opposition and their media outlets are annoyed by the high turnout, but obstructing and hindering voter mobilisation is anti-election and anti-principle. I urge everyone to maintain a peaceful environment during the election.
We ask that all entities, be it a political party or a media outlet, facilitate these elections as peacefully as possible. We would like to inform you that we have launched a website named shedegebi.ge. This website contains information about the election and, starting at 20:00, the results of the elections.
This is an election with a lot of principle, in which we decide the direction in which our country will move, and whether or not we can maintain peace, or if the process will follow the scenario that the radical opposition has proposed for the future of our country. We are confident that the country’s progress and development will be assured, as well as maintaining peace. Irakli Kobakhidze said that the only guarantee for this in this country was “Georgian Dream“, or our political union.
