**Student Movement in Serbia: A Significant Event**
A former dean of Belgrade University, Ivanka Popovic, thinks the current student movement in Serbia will be remembered as a big deal. She said this in an interview with the daily Nova.
Popovic is also one of the founders of ProGlas, an initiative that aims to change Serbian society. She believes the academic community should support the protesting students. Professors have a role to play in helping the students bring their protests to an end.
Popovic thinks it’s wrong when professors don’t understand why they should be supporting the students. She said those professors are not worthy of their titles.
The academic described attempts to discredit the students as “pathetic”. This backfired, and people got angry about how the security services were treating the students and their families.
Popovic also talked about ProGlas’ work. The initiative has proposed 18 measures to change Serbian society for good.
