**Serbia in Crisis: Experts Call for Fair Elections**
A group of experts gathered in Belgrade to discuss the solution to Serbia’s ongoing political crisis. They agreed that free and fair elections, not street violence, are the answer.
The participants suggested a “government of social trust” that would include both expert and politician leaders. Their main goals are to meet student demands and ensure fair elections can take place.
**What Do Fair Elections Look Like?**
To achieve this, the experts said voter lists need to be cleaned up, electoral rights must be protected, and truthful information about the election process needs to be shared with the public. They also want changes in the leadership of public services and a regulation on informational political programs.
Additionally, they want to prevent the misuse of public resources and public officials’ campaigning. The proper functioning of prosecutor’s offices also depends on removing certain high-ranking officials.
**A Short-Term Solution**
The experts suggested that this “government of social trust” should be in place for six to nine months. They believe ministries should be headed by individuals with undeniable expertise, regardless of their party affiliation. This would ensure a minimal number of ministries and achieve the primary goals.
