Serbia’s Corruption Problem Grows
A senior prosecutor in Serbia is worried about the country’s drop on a list that shows how corrupt it is. Jasmina Paunovic said that the fall is a big problem because it affects people’s lives and the country’s future.
Paunovic believes that corruption has spread everywhere in Serbian society over the last 12 years, under the current government. She pointed out that a recent example of this was when a concrete roof at a train station collapsed. This showed how deep-rooted the corruption is in Serbia, she said.
According to Paunovic, Serbia’s drop on the list should not be ignored. The country has been falling on the list since 2016 and now it ranks lower than before. Transparency International released its latest report on corruption levels around the world.
