Mate Devidze, 20, was arrested after a violent attack on police officers in Georgia. According to prosecutor Ani Khubejashvili, the arrest was not taking place when Devidze suddenly attacked the policemen.
Prosecutors have video evidence of the attack, which shows Devidze using a baton to hit the heads of three police officers, injuring them. The videos were made public as part of the case against Devidze.
Devidze was not in contact with the police when he attacked them. He had walked away from the police and was not being detained at the time. The prosecutor explained that Devidze used a flexible stick to injure the police officers, causing injuries to their hands, forehead, ring, and back area.
Prosecutor Khubejashvili stressed that attacking a police officer is a serious crime. The prosecution has gathered evidence from witnesses and an expert’s report confirming that the person in the video recordings is indeed Mate Devidze.
